Things we always need

As we house individuals, many of whom have been chronically homeless and have few -- if any --possessions, we are always looking for donations of items to help them settle into new homes. We are routinely in need of gently used furniture, household and kitchen items, lamps, bikes, etc. We have some storage space and can accept these items as space and need allows. These kind of donations are the difference for our clients in having a house and having a HOME. Thank you, donors, for all you do!

DeLaCerda House is in the process of converting a sunroom in our transitional group home into a den/library in honor of the late Robb Dussliere, the man who spearheaded the work to make this home a reality back in 1995 and 1996. He spent the final year of his life, as he died of AIDS, rehabbing this facility with the belief that housing was the critical link to good HIV health outcomes. We would like to fill this room with current HIV/AIDS educational resources. We have begun a “Wish List” on Amazon and will give a good home to any books you’d like to order for us. To search for our wish list, go to amazon.com and click on “Wish List” in the top right-hand-corner. Then click on “Find a wish list or registry.” It will ask you to enter our email: delacerdahouse@gmail.com. This will pull up our list. Any books you purchase can be shipped to DeLaCerda House, 2827 7th Ave., Suite 11, Rock Island, IL 61240.

If you are an employer seeking full or part-time employees, feel free to call us at 309-786-7386 or email us at delacerdahouse@gmail.com. We make available weekly “Help Wanted” lists to our clients so those seeking work might find it. Stable income is often the thing that finally derails the cycle of homelessness our clients have struggled with for years.

Birdies for Charity

You can select DeLaCerda House as your Birdies for Charity recipient at this year’s John Deere Classic. Since 1971, the John Deere Classic has delivered over $60 million to regional charities, most of it through its Birdies for Charity program. No other event on the PGA TOUR does it better - and it’s the generous nature of this area that makes it happen. If you are a charity donor, it is gratifying to know that 100% of every pledge collected goes directly to your specified charity. John Deere covers all administrative costs to make that possible. Plus, the tournament takes its profits each year and delivers a second check from between 5% and 10% of that charity’s final total to make the deal even sweeter. There is no more impactful way for you to help your favorite organization. Click here to request that we send you the official Birdies for Charity pledge form.
